Headteacher's Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to Worthing High School and look forward to being part of your child’s journey to adulthood.

Choosing the “right” school for your child is one of the most important decisions you have to make and we take the responsibility, you have entrusted us with, very seriously.

At Worthing High we put ‘learning’ as our key priority and all other considerations are secondary to this. This does not mean, however, that we only focus on what takes place in the classroom. Indeed we feel that experiences which are gleaned from our many trips out of school and visitors to the school are of equal educational importance.

It is the strength of the relationships formed with our many visitors, both from the business world and the local community, which have initiated an exciting new direction for the school.  From September 2008, Worthing High School becomes a Trust School.

This means it has a Trust board comprised of other educational establishments from different phases, business partners and community representatives to help give strategic direction and vision.  The accountability for the school still lies firmly with the governors but the Trust board will give us ideas to enable us to exploit all of our partnerships in order to gain the widest choice of career pathways possible for our students.  This, coupled with becoming a Business and Enterprise with Music & English Specialist School, clearly demonstrates our commitment to giving our students the richest diet of opportunities any school has to offer.

We pride ourselves on being a school that caters for individual talents and strengths.

We look for the things that your child can succeed at and ensure that we use their successes as a motivator for exceeding their potential. Our mission is to educate the ‘whole child’ and not just the part that can pass tests and examinations!

I firmly believe that we can only be truly successful when we all, students, staff and parents, work towards the common goal of helping your child achieve their best.

This is a really exciting time to be at Worthing High. We are clearly in a new era which reflects our relentless pursuit of raising achievement and unlocking potential.
