Investors in Careers 2010 Reassessment
Worthing High School was the first school in West Sussex to achieve the investors in Careers mark in 1999 and has retained the status since. This is a quality standard mark for the management of Careers education information and guidance in schools and indicates the quality guidance we give to our students. In 2010 we are going for reassessment which will mean that the schools Careers information and guidance will be evaluated by an outside assessor.
Careers education information and guidance has had a number of developments this term which provide not only students but also parents with improved information on choices at both 14 and 16.
Year 11 students have been using the area wide prospectus which can be accessed at www.myfuturesussex.com. This enables students to research specific courses and where they are delivered throughout the whole of West Sussex. Worthing High School is also involved in a pilot project using this website, where students can apply on line to colleges and only fill in one application form which is sent directly to the providers through the Common Application Process. This project will be available in all other schools next year.
We have also added a careers section to our moodle site which can be accessed through the Worthing High website. In this section is a link called Careers etc to a range of careers information which students will be using as part of the year 9 option process and year 10 and 11’s will be using to make informed choices for post 16 education.
